Girls Aloud's controversial new single has been banned on children's television because of its boozy lyrics, it was reported.
The Daily Star claims the original version of Wake Me Up is going to be recut after references to drinking are chopped out.
The song's writers are meeting to see whether they can come up with a doctored version of the track, which is due for release next month.
According to the paper, the idea is to have a safer, alternative track which the girls can sing on shows such as CD:UK.
The offending song appears on the band's new album What Will The Neighbours Say.
It is a big setback for the group who have been trying to create an edgier image.
A source told the Daily Star: "It's not long before the track kicks in and Sarah is singing about drinking Bud, which is obviously beer.
"Then Cheryl wonders whether 'it's just the margaritas' or 'is a bloke looking at her?'.
"They're all grown-up women but they understand a lot of young girls admire them and they would never want to encourage under-age drinking."
