The former Atomic Kitten has posed - American Beauty-style - on a bed of smoking patches as part of Boots' latest anti-smoking campaign.

The high street chemist will also be providing expert advice in its shops and sending a "battle bus" around Britain which will allow people to "measure" the age of their lungs.

According to a survey, around one in three smokers tries to kick the habit every year.

And in a Boots survey, based on the responses of 1,000 people, half of smokers said they hope to give up in 2007.

Conservative Party leader David Cameron, who vowed to stop smoking during a previous version of the campaign, said: "Boots' campaign last year (2006) to help people quit smoking was a great success.

"It is testimony to just how much can be achieved.

"Quitting smoking is one New Year's resolution which it is well worth making and keeping, and I am sure this campaign will help many more to do so."

In a poll to find the most well-known smoker, Kate Moss came first, followed by Britney Spears and DJ Chris Moyles.
