We have a little secret for you...
Why go all the way to the fountain when you can hold onto your youth in a 30ml jar crafted by BioEffect?
The Icelandic range launched in London only a year ago - we were lucky enough to sit in on a Q&A with the team at the Mayfair Hotel at the time - but already it has become a fast favourite on the beauty circuit.
So what's all the fuss?
Growth factors, it seems. If you're scratching your head, we can relate. Growth factors, particularly EGF, are produced by our cells to maintain elasticity and radiance in our skin. BioEffect replicates this process using barley plants - instead of human or bacteria cells (because who wants to rub either of those on your face after a long day?) - to create a greener and more pure product.
After the launch of the serum last year, I returned home intent on working it into my nightly skincare routine - just three dabs a night (it spreads easily). Unfortunately I was about a week in when my husband found my glass phial.
Now, he's not one to latch onto products - whatever he finds in the cupboard is fine - but this was revolutionary to him. He applied it around his eyes, on scratches or dry skin - no wonder it disappeared so quickly - and in days it healed various skin conditions. Just imagine what it does to wrinkles...
Fast forward to 2012, and the miracle serum is joined by a new moisturiser, BioEffect Daytime. The cream is packed with our skin's best friend, EGF, of course, and fills the morning void left by the serum. Both products are free from parabens - controversial chemicals frequently found in our favourite cosmetics - and high in hyaluronic acid, a protein naturally produced by the body. Just apply the moisturiser each morning with your normal SPF on top, and finish off the day with a few drops of the EGF serum.
And that's just the beginning. This year BioEffect has plans to launch three to four new products, which they're keeping close to their chests - but we think an undereye cream could be in store...
BioEffect Daytime costs £55 for 30ml and is availble on their website now. The cream will launch at Boots in April. You can currently buy the serum through Boots.
