Here at Sky Living HQ we are in mourning for Ms Houston.

As a group of music fans and celeb-loving ladies, Whitney was an idol to us all.

Her death at just 48 years old is a tragedy and we're remembering her life through this video retrospective and our own memories.

"My favourite Whitney song, 'I Wanna Dance With Somebody', takes me back to the dance floor at university. For those three minutes it was perfectly acceptable to love a bit of 80s cheese. No arguments about the music - no talking - everybody just got down and boogied! And it was OK to point hopefully at the person you had a crush on when she sang the line 'with somebody who loves me'."
Rachel David, Celebrity Journalist

"Whitney was the soundtrack to my youth. Who didn't sing along to her songs while miming ridiculously into a hairbrush? I also wanted her bubblegum perm, but that's another story. Whitney, you will be missed. RIP."
Katie Blake, Shows Producer

"The Bodyguard was, quite simply, the best film of the 90s and the backdrop to my growing up. I thought that Whitney was the epitome of beauty and class and it's such a shame it had to end in such a tawdry and tragic way."
Jessica Lewis, Editor

"An utter, utter tragedy. I remember buying Whitney's Greatest Hits as an early teen - already in love with her music - and it's one of the few albums that still appears in its entirety on my iPod today. My best friend once told me years ago that the song that got her through tough times was Whitney's 'The Greatest Love Of All' and I'm sure she's not the only one who relied on Whit and her belting voice for comfort, inspiration and, most important of all - a cracking tune to dance to."
Victoria Joy, Celebrity Editor

"My favourite Whitney memory is dancing around my living room as a kid with my mum to 'I Wanna Dance With Somebody', thinking that I'd quite like to be her. Alongside Madonna and MJ, she introduced me to pop and stardom."
Lisa Cowan, Style Journalist

"When I woke up this morning my inbox was full of messages about Whitney Houston. 'Whitney Houston has died', 'Have you heard about Whitney?' and even from my flatmate on holiday in Dubai asking: 'Do you know how Whitney died? What happened?' You don't expect to hear questions like this on a Sunday morning and even as a journalist it still shocks you to the point of goosebumps when a star dies so suddenly. It's sad, tragic - and for those jumping to conclusions about the cause of death - it's still deeply shocking and hurtful, no matter what the circumstances. As Whit rules the top trends on Twitter and climbs the iTunes charts, her presence is only enhanced - after all, how many of us don't stumble upon her tracks on our iPods on a daily basis?"
Rebecca Martin, Celebrity Journalist

"I loved Whit for being the reason behind our hairbrush in the mirror moments growing up, making us believe that we too could grow up to be stars with lung-defying renditions of amazing songs."
